Calendar: FIU Focus: Teresita Fernández in conversation with Dr. Ana Dopico

Event Description

Pérez Art Museum Miami welcomes Florida International University students and public to a conversation on how being a first-generation American in Miami in the 80s molded Teresita Fernández’s work. She will also discuss how she uses conceptual landscape to address and question notions of identity and belonging.

Elemental presents an unparalleled opportunity to experience over 50 works by one of the nation’s leading contemporary artists. This exhibition will introduce visitors to the artist’s expansive conceptual approach to landscape. Through large-scale sculptures, experiential installations, and mixed media works, Fernández brings to light relationships between elemental materials, nature, history, and the cultural, socio-political references tied to the perception of place.
