Pérez Art Museum Miami Brings Art to Miami-Dade County Neighborhoods with Inside|Out
This year, Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) launched PAMM Inside|Out, a program funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, which brings high-quality reproductions of art from PAMM’s permanent collection to the community. The program kicked off in the Miami-Dade County communities of Hialeah, Homestead and West End with a calendar of related events and programs, including a community weekend at the museum on Labor Day weekend, September 3-5, 2016.
From Roy Lichtenstein to Faith Ringgold and Jose Bedia, 30 reproductions from PAMM’s permanent collection are on view in the three communities through September 2016. The first round of selected locations were Hialeah Park in Hialeah, Losner Park in Homestead, and Hammocks Community Park and Olympic Park in West End. The second round of selected locations included Milander Center for Arts and Entertainment in Hialeah, Mayor Roscoe Warren Park and Robert Is Here in Homestead and Westwind Lakes Park in West End. Each community has 10 artwork reproductions clustered within walking or bike-riding distance.
Miami is the fourth city to host Inside|Out, a program conceived by the Detroit Institute of Arts in 2010. It proved so successful in Detroit, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation is providing $2 million over three years to expand Inside|Out to communities across the country, including Philadelphia and Akron, Ohio.
Residents are also encouraged to share their Inside|Out experiences on social media with #PAMMInsideOut and follow PAMM for updates on Facebook (/perezartmuseummiami), Twitter (@pamm) and Instagram (@pammpics).
Milander Center for Arts and Entertainment is the PAMM Inside|Out hub in Hialeah, with 10 reproductions on view throughout the vibrant community space. This presentation was made possible in collaboration with Hialeah Mayor Carlos Hernandez and County Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr., District 13.
