Membership Manager

The Membership Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining a wide range of membership acquisition and retention programs for Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) members at the levels under $1,000. This person oversees the membership program and serves as a primary contact for PAMM members, working closely with other staff to develop communications methods, membership materials, and special member programs to enhance member relations. This position manages the Membership Associate and Membership Intern.

Requirements: 


B.A./B.S. degree or higher, or equivalent professional/leadership training in the field. Three to five years experience overseeing membership (or related field) programs is required. Altru database system experience is preferred.  Raiser’s Edge or other database experience a plus. Museum and non – profit experience required.

Essential Functions included, but are not limited to:

  • Works with the Director of Individual Giving to develop short and long-range membership goals, programs, and activities to enhance community ownership of PAMM;
  • Designs and implements membership acquisition strategies including development of membership materials, direct mail, and other direct marketing activities;
  • Copywriter for all membership materials such as donation acknowledgements, email campaigns, e-newsletter text and membership related evites   
  • Responsible for monthly mailed membership (4 letters) and Museum Circle (3 letters) renewals, updating letter text (and up until recently pulling mailing lists from Altru)
  • Creates and builds membership campaigns in Mailchimp system including email renewals (5 monthly emails), direct mail acquisition (4 emails sent twice annually), and other emails such as member survey and upgrade campaigns
  • Utilizes technology and social media in the membership process from acquisition to retention;
  • Oversees Altru database system to track members, member visits to PAMM, member giving patterns, retention, and to evaluate membership trends;
  • Responsible for organizing, planning and executing all general member events including Fourth of July Member Celebration, Curated Coffee and monthly Third Thursday lounge
  • Manages young professionals donor group the PAMM Contemporaries and responsible for soliciting external organizations for combined partner events, sponsorships and revenue   
  • Responsible for Remix host committee of 20+ volunteers for annual fundraising gala
  • Committee member for cross-organizational holiday party for young professionals of select arts organizations in the city
  • Creates complimentary memberships and benefits package for external event rentals at PAMM such as weddings
  • Manages and maintains/oversees accurate records on membership, including acknowledgements, membership income reports, mailing lists, membership lists for publications, and other reports as needed;
  • Along with Membership Associate, processes new/renewed membership gifts and develops benefit materials;
  • Pulls and create weekly donor acknowledgements for membership gifts between $1,000-$10,000
  • Develops programs to track, evaluate, and enhance member involvement in special programs of the PAMM;
  • Works with Education Manager to ensure members have free access to Educational programs, creating members-only codes for online event registrations, editing registration link/website text for programs and uploading automatic acknowledgement letters into Altru
  • Addresses all concerns and questions of members with sensitivity to customer while keeping best interests of organization in mind;
  • Oversees the management of membership front desk, membership services, benefits, and policies including coordination with Visitor Services for front of house service, and monthly VSA contests
  • Performs other duties as requested or assigned by Deputy Director of Development
  • Up until recently responsible for pulling all lists used across the organization for emails and mailings

  • Close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. 
  • Ability to hear in normal tones including telephone and face-to-face conversation.
